Initial Sketches
Early sketches explored several floral directions for the primary mark. The final identity centers on a single bloom, reflecting both the natural landscape of Northern Idaho and the brand’s emphasis on quiet, natural beauty. Each concept explored a different type and style of flower, ranging wild mountain blooms to more refined arrangements. This exploration allowed us to identify a direction that ended up becoming Radiance's defining mark.

Brand identity for a coffee brand that blends tabletop gaming, adventure, and storytelling - complete with a surprise D20 in every bag.
Design Goals:
Capture a sense of adventure and discovery
Appeal to the tabletop gaming community without relying too heavily on obvious RPG symbols or shapes
Avoid leaning too heavily into pirate or treasure tropes, instead emphasizing exploration and wonder
Develop a brand system that works across coffee packaging, social media, and websites.
Design Solution:
The identity for Treasured Grounds draws inspiration from vintage exploration imagery, star charts, and the treasure-keeping nature of ravens in old legends. The goal was to create a brand that feels both mysterious and welcoming, with a sense of adventure just over the horizon.
Rather than relying heavily on the D20 shape or overt tabletop symbols, the design focuses on subtler references to discovery and mythology. Rich colors, textured typography, and bright accent details create a brand that feels both mysterious and adventurous, inviting customers to see each purchase as a small treasure waiting to be discovered.
Overview:
Treasured Grounds is a coffee brand inspired by tabletop games and the shared storytelling that happens around the table. Each package includes a surprise D20, showcasing the spirit of discovery and mystery that defines the tabletop experience. The brand identity was designed to capture the sense of exploration and mystery found in fantasy adventures.

Initial Sketches
Early concepts explored several visual directions tied to themes of discovery, storytelling, and treasured objects. Initial ideas included sailor's cartographer’s tools and star charts, keys tied to hidden treasures, magpies as gatherers of shiny objects, and a whimsical coffee pot entwined with coffee plants inspired by storybook imagery. These explorations helped establish the broader tone of adventure and curiosity that would shape the brand.
Later concepts began to focus on the symbolism of ravens in old legends as keepers of knowledge and collectors of meaningful objects. This direction ultimately became the foundation for the final mark, combining the sense of myth, exploration, and discovery at the heart of the Treasured Grounds brand.

Brand identity for an artisan dice studio blending storytelling, whimsy, and craftsmanship.
Design Goals:
Capture a sense of beauty, wonder, and storytelling - evoking the feeling of old tales filled with exploration and adventure
Convey a strong sense of place - as if the Rosey Cricket could be a fantasy world pub or a gathering place for adventures to begin
Create a flexible visual system that could extend beyond dicemaking to other artistic pursuits
Retain rose iconography as a key brand element
Develop a rich, sophisticated color palette that remains approachable for a high-end artisan product
Balance whimsy and refinement, reflecting the tactile, handcrafted nature of the art
Design Solution:
The Rosey Cricket identity draws inspiration from storybook elements, balancing whimsy with sophistication. Intentional hand-drawn details, including the signature rose motif, keep the brand grounded and tactile, reinforcing its artisan, handcrafted nature.
Together, these elements emphasize storytelling and worldbuilding, while the handcrafted details add depth to create a brand that feels like a gathering place for imagination and adventure.

Initial Sketches
Early concepts explored a variety of directions for the Rosey Cricket identity, each one emphasizing different aspects of storytelling and whimsy. One of the earliest concepts used a seal-like shape to evoke the feeling of a wax sealed letter while also including a nod to the D20 shape popular in tabletop gaming. Wildflowers were also explored for an emphasis on the whimsical, and while it was not used for the final design, it did evolve into one of the secondary icon designs for Rosey Cricket. A third concept framed the rose within an archway-inspired form, tying in to architectural elements and ultimately inspiring the cathedral-style framing of the final mark.
These explorations allowed the design to evolve thoughtfully, balancing handcrafted detail with architectural inspiration to arrive at the final identity.
